Chris Cornell wiki & biography:
Chris Cornell, Seattle produced (July 20, 1964) singer of Audioslave and Soundgarden has a net worth of $60 million. When Cornell was younger, he endured with depression and found rock music as a coping mechanism. In the early 1980s Chris Cornell joined his first band named The Shemps alongside Hiro Yamamoto, and later Kim Thayil. The Shemps finally ended, but in 1984 rejoined to form Soundgarden. In 1986 Skin Yard joined to allow Cornell to focus on vocals, as well as the group signed to Sub Pop records in 1987.
They signed with A&M Records in 1989 making them the first grunge band on a major label. They continued to increase in popularity in another year with their next record gaining three hits, “Jesus Christ Pose,” “Outshined,” and “Rusty Cage,” all which had constant plays on MTV with “Rusty Cage” after being covered by Johnny Cash. In 1994 their record Super Unknown was to the Billboard Top 200.
In 1999, Chris Cornell started working on his solo career and snagged a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Performance. He joined Audioslave in 2000 and recorded three albums in the next six years. Recently, Soundgarden’s Twitter implied they’d do a reunion tour, but nothing has been formally declared thus far.
American rocker Chris Cornell, lead vocalist of Soundgarden and Audioslave, has an estimated net worth of $60 million. Of the planet ‘s 50 most affluent musicians, Chris ranks in at number 40.
His first group was a cover band called “The Shemps” during the early 80s. The group which also contained his buddies Hiro Yamamoto and Kim Thayil, broke up almost right as it started. Only to reform in 1984 under the new name “Soundgarden.”
Originally he played guitar and drums in the group, until Scott Sundquist took over as drummer, enabling Chris to focus on singing. It was his singing that made all the difference. In 1990 the group received a Grammy nomination for the best metal performance, and was signed to A&M Records. A number of different bands plus a solo act later, his music career is doing amazing. But his net worth is largely because of writing music, and not his groups performances. Chris Cornell has scored music for several big films, including Casino Royal and The Avengers.
