In regards to animation, it must be Disney. As we were growing up, the better part of our youth was commanded by Disney animations. Cartoons are, well, the heart and head of the company. The Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. In the initial years it was more of an animation firm, before it ventured into live action movie production, motion pictures and amusement parks. It was renamed to TheWalt current name in 1986 and drop din much more comprehensive facets of the business, including theater, radio, music, publishing and also on-line media. The Disney Company is best known because of its film studio, Walt Disney Studios, which is among the largest and finest studios of Hollywood. Disney also owns and manages networks such as the ABC broadcast television network, ESPN, Disney Channel, and also 14 theme parks in the universe.
Early in 1923, Walt Disney created the short film called Alice’s Wonderland and then go to Hollywood after his previous endeavor called Laugh-o-Gram Films went broke. There walt joined his brother and formed Disney Brother Cartoon Studio the exact same year. After the end of the Disney Studios, the studio was renamed as Walt Disney Studios.
After the demise of Alice comedies, Disney began its first all animation show, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which was broadcast by Winkler Pictures. Since the provider owned the character, Disney didn’t make much profit from the character and finally Winkler’s husband took over the distribution company. He hired away four of Disney’s main animators after he neglected to take away the complete Disney Company and started his own studio.
This was the mouse which afterwards became world famous as Mickey Mouse. The film was an immediate hit but the credit didn’t go to Mickey Mouse initially. It went to how it was the first sound film and thus it was a tremendous success.
Many animations were continued to be produced by Disney with Mickey Mouse as the central character, when in September 1929, theater supervisor Harry Woodin suggested starting a Mickey Club, that was finally approved by Disney and later test comic strips were sent to King Features. In the meantime, Walt Disney Studios was reorganized as Walt Disney Productions Limited, which had a merchandise section and two other subsidiaries. On December 30, 1929, the first strip of Mickey Mouse comics was published in New York Mirror. Because of the astounding popularity of Mickey Mouse, Disney planned to make its first feature length cartoon movie.
The company and its idea of its animations were enormous success. So Walt Disney determined to produce a feature length cartoon movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It took three years to finish and after its premiere in December 1937, it became the highest grossing movie of that time. With the profits of the movie, Disney built a studio in California. This Walt Disney studio is now the headquarter of the firm.
From this studio, Disney continued to produce several other cartoon movies like, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi etc. which all became famed.
After the World War where many of Disney’s staffs were sent to the war, the business produced set of short films and released them together, but the movies performed quite poorly. The fortunes of the firm took a turn in 1950 when Cinderella became a hit and demonstrated that there was still marketplace for feature length cartoon movies. There were several other movies from Disney during this interval, which all went on to become cult animation films, like, Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan, Treasure Island, The Sword and the Rose, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and more.
After the super successful Disneyland show on the ABC network, Walt Disney started the quite famous Disneyland to the general public. Year after year, it continued to attract visitors from throughout the world. Few years later, Disney announced the launch of Disney World, which would have theme parks, hotels and a model city and Disney purchased thousands of acres of property in Florida.
The film studios of Disney released a series of animated pictures which have become popular now, like, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians and adapted many children’s books into animated movies.
Later in 1971, Roy Disney overly died of a stroke and left the firm with Donn Tatum, Card Walker and Walt Disney’ son in law Ron Miller.
In the year 2003, Disney studio was the first studio in the whole world that got revenue of $3 billion worldwide.
