At 25, his career started when he co-founded Ocean Drive. Then he founded Niche Media Holdings in 1998. It is a leading publisher of high-end regional magazines nationally. He sold the firm in 2006 for an undisclosed amount to the Greenspun Media Group (GMG). In August 2010, Binn employed the digital e commerce space and was retained as a senior advisor to Gilt Groupe. Gilt created itself as a top online retailer in the U.S. and Japan with a comprehensive range of daily revenue for its several million invitation only members. Found in 2007, Gilt Groupe reported gross revenues of $25 million in 2008 and currently does approximately $600 million in annual earnings.

In September 2011, Binn created a strategic partnership with Getty Images and WireImage, a leading creator and distributor of digital media. Binn’s partnership with Getty/WireImage markets his personal photography, archives and BinnShot (which he edits). In 2005, Binn was profiled in Forbes magazine’s “Forbes 400.” In 2006, he was given Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year,” and in 2007, he was inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s “Advertising Hall of Achievement” (the only magazine recipient for this year). In 2008, Binn was featured in Crain’s coveted “40 Under 40” list of successful entrepreneurs. In 2009, Dean Tom Fielder presented Binn with Boston University’s “Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the Profession” for his leadership and cutting edge work in the discipline of communications. Binn continues to serve on the board at Boston University.
